Horan fights back to salvage point

Ties and comebacks ruled the day at Trail Retiree Mens Curling.

Ties and comebacks ruled the day at Trail Retiree Mens Curling.

The Secco foursome took on a stubborn Horan rink Wednesday, jumping out to a quick 5 - 0 lead after two ends.  But the Horan rink fought back, counting a big three-point seventh end to jump ahead 7-6.  The Secco rink with the hammer in the eighth scored one to make it 7-7.

The Coleman rink was up to its usual ‘thievery’ as it stole its way to victory over the Siddal rink.  With steals in the third, fourth, fifth, and eighth ends, the Coleman rink took the play away from the Siddal quartet and won the game 6-1.

The Freschi vs Handley game was a seesaw battle.  With the score tied after seven ends, the Handley rink had the hammer but Satch Freschi with his last rock made an improbable shot to sit with two rocks behind cover. Handley could not out draw the Freschi rocks and lost the game 7-5.

The Jewitt rink came out of the hack quickly and scored four in the first end.  Team Trozzo clawed back over the next six ends to close the Jewitt lead to 7-6 after seven, and completed the come back with a steal of two in the eighth to win the game 8-7.

With the Tyson rink up 3 - 2 after four ends over the Bamford rink, it looked to be a tight game.  But the Bamford rink scored five in the fifth end to jump out to a big lead.

Tyson then went on the offensive and scored four in the sixth to tie the game at 7.

Bamford with hammer in the seventh end scored two, but could not hold the lead in the eighth end as Tyson scored two to tie the game 9 - 9.

Everyone is welcome to come out and watch.
