Chris Kissock of Fruitvale finished the game for the Canadians coming on in the ninth inning and striking out the first batter. He then got the second to ground out and the third batter to foul out to end the game.

The Canadians beat Puerto Rico 9-1 in their first game and Japan 3-1 on Monday to sit in a tie first place in their pool with the Netherlands.

Canada had a good start, taking a 1-0 lead in the second before adding three more runs in the next inning highlighted by a lead-off home run by Tim Smith.

Mark Hardy got the start for Canada and threw four strong innings giving up the only two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a  double by Iason Zachos.

Canada’s bats put the game away, scoring seven runs over the fifth and sixth inning thanks to a tough outing by Greek reliever Panagiotis Sikaras who served up two triples followed by a Chris Bisson. three-run home run.

Tim Smith and Jonathan Malo swung the bat well for the Canadian team, each picking up three hits and two RBI.

Canada’s next game goes tomorrow against Chinese Taipei who are winless in two games.
