The Trail Jays saw the good and the bad come out as they capped off a three game home stand Monday.
The Jays hosted the Lewis-Clark Twins in back-to-back games on Sunday before taking on the Prairie Cardinals Monday afternoon.
In the first game against the Twins, an amazing performance from pitcher Jarrett Conway vaulted the Jays over the perennial powerhouses, 9-2.
Conway threw a complete game one-hitter for the victory, striking out four and giving up two runs on a single hit and five walks.
Against a powerful team like Lewiston, the performance was a welcome surprise as Conway carried a no-hitter into the seventh.
“I wasn’t expecting a no-hitter, but he (Conway) just kept cruising . . . and we kept making outs for him. He kept the ball down, kept them off-balance with his curve ball. He was able to throw that very well for a strike.”
Dallas Calvin went 2 for 3 at the plate with a three run bomb in the second while Geoff Soukeroff added a double on two hits and an RBI. Brady Glover and Jordan Roblin also went 2 for 4, each knocking in a run.
The second half of the double bill proved to be less impressive as the Jays blew up in the field. After an almost perfect first game, the team made eight errors in a 14-4 loss.
Jordan Roblin took the loss, pitching four innings and ceding eight earned runs on five hits and four walks.
The Twins pounded out nine hits, while the Jays managed only five with Glover going 2 for 4, on a single and a double.
“It’s tough to win any ballgame with eight errors,” said Combo.
In Monday’s match, the Jays put the glove on the right foot as they played well in the field, committing only one error in a 3-2 extra-inning victory against the Prairie Cardinals.
The Cardinals fought back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game in the top of the sixth to force extra innings.

“It was a close game, we battled really well, it came down to little things and we ended coming through in the clutch.”
In the bottom of the ninth, Gerry Rebelato jacked a walk-off homerun to win the game for the Jays. Rebelato also picked up the win in relief, shutting down the Cardinals in the ninth, after Calvin pitched eight solid innings.
The lanky lefthander gave up two earned runs, and fanned eight batters while walking three.
Jesse Rypien went 2 for 4 on a single and a triple and a run scored.
The Jays next action goes Thursday at Butler Park at 2 p.m. against the Northeast 49ers, and Saturday at Butler at 4 p.m. against the Cranbrook Bandits.
