Team Canada’s baseball team beat host Mexico 5-3 in the semi-finals at the Pan Am Games Monday to give them a shot at gold.

Pitcher Chris Kissock of Fruitvale closed the game for Canada coming in and pitching two strong innings of shut out ball to get the save.

Team Canada will take-on the Unites States and attempt to win the country’s first ever gold medal in a major international baseball event at the senior level.

“It feels great,” said Canadian Manager, Ernie Whitt of the win over Mexico. “Our goal at the beginning of the tournament was to win gold and we’ve put ourselves in a position to do so.”

Canada’s game against the U.S. took place Tuesday night but the score was not available at press time.
