Minor Hockey Midgets off to solid start

The Rossland-Trail minor hockey tier-two Midget Rep Smoke Eaters hit the ice for their first regular season game on the weekend.

The Rossland-Trail minor hockey tier-two Midget Rep Smoke Eaters hit the ice for their first regular season game on the weekend.

The team is once again playing in the Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association this year, a league in which they placed fourth in their division last year.

The team traveled to the Okanagan to take on Kelowna and Westside to start the year.

In the team’s first game on Saturday, the Smoke Eaters beat Kelowna 1-0 and followed it up with a 3-3 tie on Sunday against the Westside Midget T2 Reps.

The Midget Smoke Eaters play again Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against Winfield at the Cominco Arena and again on Sunday morning in Rossland where they’ll play an exhibition game against Winfield at 8:15 a.m.
