NCAA: Number-one Bobcats prep for playoff

The Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey team was ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com Division I and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Polls.

For the fifth consecutive week, the Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey team was ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com Division I poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll.

The Bobcats, led by Montrose’s Connor and Kellen Jones, and former Trail Smoke Eater Travis St. Denis, also remain in the top spot in the PairWise Rankings, which they have held since Jan. 19.

Quinnipiac received 39 of the 50 first-place votes in the USCHO.com poll and 31 of the 34 votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll.

The Bobcats were idle this past weekend with a bye in the first round of the ECAC Hockey Championship tournament. After winning the Cleary Cup for the first time since joining the league in 2005, the top-seeded Bobcats will host No. 9 seed Cornell this weekend for a best-of-three series at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center.

Friday and Saturday night’s games are both set for 7 p.m., with Sunday’s Game 3 slated for a 7:30 p.m. start, if needed.
