Pitman claims B.C. title

Warfield brothers head to Italy for world junior championship next week.

Tommy Pitman has added another medal to his growing collection.

The Warfield snowboardcross racer captured the gold medal as the B.C. Snowboard Provincial Series crowned its provincial champions in racing at the Big White Ski Area on March 12.

Over 120 snowboarders gathered at the Okanagan resort to determine champions in slopestyle and boardercross.

Tommy Pitman, who won gold at the recent Canada Winter Games in Halifax, chalked up his second win in three races.

Meanwhile brother, Mitch Pitman, who was third overall in the FIS standings heading into the final weekend, reached the final heat but fell during the race leaving him in fourth place.

The two local boarders are off to Italy next week to represent Canada at the 2011 junior world championships, which will be held March 28 to April 4 in Valmalenco, Italy.
