In the Trail Commercial Hockey League, Re/Max took over sole possession of first place with a pair of wins last week.

After beating Arlington 5-1, Re/Max kept rolling as four players scored a pair of goals in an 11-2 thumping of the Rex Hotel. Graham Proulx, Kieron Hill, Jason Vecchio and Gabe Gaudet each pitched in two tallies while Dave Eccles contributed with a goal and three assists.

Proulx sits in second in scoring while Re/Max goalie Chris McIssac leads all puck stoppers with a 3.38 goals-against average in eight games.

In Sunday games, Arlington dropped their seventh in a row, as OK Tire skated to an 8-3 win. The teams were tied 2-2 after the first period but Mike Fudge put the game away with a natural hat trick in the third while Tire’s Peter Sheets added four helpers.

In the nightcap, the Rex scored four times in the first period and then held on as they picked up their third victory of the season and sit just one point behind second place Firebird after nipping them 5-4.

The Rex’s Andrew Jenner led the way with a goal and two assists, Jim Maniago and Jason Proulx also counted a pair of points.

For the Birds, Gord Aiken’s three-goal effort was not enough as they couldn’t get anything by Rex goalie Tim Wylie  in the third.

The action continues this Sunday with Arlington facing Re/Max at 2:15 p.m. and OK Tire taking on the Rex at 3:30 p.m. at the Cominco Arena.
