Rossland Secondary set to host soccer provincials

Rossland Secondary School hosts the B.C. Single-A high school senior girls soccer championships beginning tomorrow.

Rossland Secondary School hosts the B.C. Single-A  high school senior girls soccer championships beginning tomorrow, in what will be the last such high school tournament to be held at the school.

Sixteen teams from across the province will travel to Rossland for the three-day event.

The teams are seeded then divided into four pools of four teams, playing some 40 games on area fields, including Rossland, Haley Park, J. L. Crowe, and Sunningdale.

The RSS Royals begin its final bid for a provincial championship on Thursday at 9 a.m. against St. Ann’s Academy in Rossland.

The opening ceremonies will go at 12:30 p.m. at RSS followed by the Royals second match versus Fraser Lake at 2 p.m.

The Royals play their final match of the round robin Friday against Pemberton at noon on the pitch at RSS.

The first-place teams from each pool will play in the semifinal matches at Rossland and Haley Park, respectively, in Warfield at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Games will continue at the various fields throughout the day for placement on Friday and Saturday with the gold medal game going at 1 p.m. in Rossland.
