The Trail All Stars lost another close one to make their trek to the top even harder at the Little League Major Provincials in Victoria.
The All Stars failed in their ascent of Little Mountain, losing 5-3 Thursday.
The Trail squad jumped into a 2-0 lead in the first inning as a result of a two-run dinger by Tyler Atkinson. But a combination of Trail errors and timely hits in the third and Little Mountain was on top 3-2.
The Mountain scored another in the fourth and fifth. Trail rallied hard in the fifth, loading the bases with nobody out. Atkinson stepped up and drove in a run but then the bats cooled and the Mountain would escape further damage.
The All Stars must win their game against Langley to stand a chance of making the playoffs. They also need Layritz to lose their final two games against Hastings and winless Lynn Valley in order to advance.
