Strong pitching carried the Chilliwack Cougars to three wins in a four-game series against the Trail U18 Orioles on the weekend.
The Orioles won their first game of the season with a 3-2 victory over Chilliwack in Game 4 of their series at Jason Bay Field at Butler Park on Sunday.
The Cougars rolled to a 13-3 victory in Game 1 on Saturday, before shutting out the Orioles 3-0 in a no-hitter under the lights in the night-cap.
On Sunday, the Orioles battled but couldn’t plate the runners left on base falling 5-1 in Game 3.
But in Game 4, the U18 Orioles played perhaps their best game of the season in their 3-2 victory over the Cougars.
With the three wins, the Cougars shot up the standings improving its record to 5-3 and going from 10th place to 3rd in the College Prep division.
The Orioles are back in action this weekend when they travel to Cloverdale to take on the 6-3 Rangers in another four-game series May 18-19.
Trail returns home for a a pair of doubleheaders against Ridge Meadows Royals on Saturday, June 1 at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and then on Sunday, June 2 at 9:30 a.m. and noon versus the Cloverdale Rangers.
