The last game of the Trail Retirees Curling regular season saw team Bruce Noble face off against team Forrest Drinnan, with Mel DeBriske taking on skip duties.
It came down to the last rock of the eighth end, tied at seven with Noble having hammer. And for a change Noble found the winning side of a one-point game, after a number of crushing one-point defeats. Special thanks to Joe Guercio, a last second sub.
Team Alvin Caron, down 5-2 after three ends against team David Davidow was in good shape in the fourth end. Sitting three with hammer. Caron elected to hit and stick rather than draw for the fourth point. The hit overcurled and tapped a Davidow rock in to count one, a five point swing. Deflated, team Caron never got back on track, make the final 9-5 for Davidow.
The Hawaiian kid curled 100 per cent and set up every end for team Cal McKerracher. Team Russ Beauchamp did not have an answer and played catch-up every end. It seemed like McKerracher was drawing every end for a second point. Make the final 9-1 after six ends for McKerracher.
Jay Choi and Jack Russell had outstanding games as the front end for team Tom Hall against team Serge Pasquali. Serge and Bob Menin missed the last couple of games and the rust showed. Make the final 12-6 for Hall.
Team Dan Horan started the game with a steal of one in the first against team Murray Walsh. Then Gary Secco and Alex Biruko of team Walsh found their range. Trailing 7-1 after five ends the Horan side could only muster a single in the sixth, that led to handshakes and the win for Walsh.
