The Trail Stingrays are back in the pool, looking for new recruits and stretching out those stiffening swim muscles to prepare for the summer swim season.

The Stingrays are currently running a winter swim session two times per week to introduce prospective swimmers to the club, and for current members to get back into the swim of things before the season starts in April.

“Winter session runs so that kids can try out the Stingrays, maintain swimming fitness, improve swimming technique, or just swim,” said Stingrays coach Samme Beatson. “It’s also good cross training for other sports, and a lot of fun.”

Stingrays’ swim coach Beatson is back on the pool deck to lead the Rays, and has signed up senior swimmers Sam Theobold and Jesse Bartsoff to help guide the younger Rays through the winter work outs.

“I am very excited to be coaching with the club once again,” said Beatson.

Last year a strong Stingrays club finished first overall in five of six Zone swim meets, and Beatson says she’s anticipating another successful summer.

The winter session runs from Jan. 14 to April 17, Monday and Wednesday. Novice and juniors swim 5-6 p.m. and seniors from 6-7 p.m.

Anyone can come out but potential swimmers should be able to swim at least one length of the pool.
