The Vernon Vipers are heading back to their home rink needing just two wins to claim the franchise’s third straight Fred Page Cup BCHL championship.
The Vipers traveled to Powell River on the weekend to meet the Kings in the first two games of the series.
Friday night, first period goals by Dylan Walchuk and Bryce Kakoske propelled the Vipers to a 3-1 win.
On Saturday, Vernon netminder Kirby Halcrow was named the game’s first star for the second consecutive night as he stopped all 24 shots in a 1-0 victory. David Robinson scored the game’s only goal with six minutes left in regulation time.
The series resumes tonight and Tuesday in Vernon.
