Saying Merry Christmas with colourful flowers is very popular in Trail this year. The most in-demand seasonal plant, the poinsettia, is actually a species indigenous to Mexico. Its English name comes from Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first United States Minister to Mexico, who introduced the plant to the U.S. in 1825. Julia Love, florist from Ye Olde Flower Shop, was skillfully arranging Christmas red and green into a number of poinsettia arrangements this week.
