It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Barry Hope peacefully at home with family by his side on September 18, 2010 after a brave but brief battle with cancer. He was born December 15, 1938 in Kelowna, BC.

Barry was an avid golfer skier, and enjoyed curling. He was one of the founding members of the Champion Lakes Golf Course. His winters were spent skiing at Red Mountain. There he was a member of the Ski Patrol and later became a Snow Host. Barry also enjoyed carpentry and fly tying, as well as camping and travelling. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lois, children Ron (Ingrid), Steve (Debbie), David (Leah), and Shauna (Howard), grandchildren Robyn (Nathan), Lisa (Trevor), Dustin (Amber), Mackenzie (Darren), Jonathan (Sara), Justine, Willi, Vanessa, Kyle, and Alexandra; great-grandchildren Raquel, Dane, Brayden, and Carson, as well as special cousins Gwen, Laurie and their families. Barry was predeceased by his parents Jim and Alice Hope, and son Rick Green.

A celebration of Barry’s life will be held at the Fruitvale Memorial Hall on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Al Grywacheski of Personal Alternative Funeral Services “Carberry’s Chapel” is entrusted with arrangements.
