Dario Degan of Genelle passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after his 5 year courageous battle with cancer on March 18, 2015.

Dario was born on November 7, 1946 in Valvasone Italy

In 1951 Dario travelled to Canada with his mother Irma to meet up with his father Carlo in Trail. In 1956 they resided in Genelle where Dario stayed to raise his own family.

Dario graduated from J.L Crowe in 1967. After graduation he spent some time in Vancouver working with his uncles until returning home. In 1974 Dario started work for the City of Trail until his retirement in April 2006.

When Dario wasn’t working you would find him either fishing at his favourite spot with his four legged companions or out sighting in one of his new rifles. Growing up hunting with his father in the Elk Valley and local areas Dario loved the outdoors. He always carried a rifle and a chainsaw no matter where he went. If Dario wasn’t out tinkering in the shop or working on a lawnmower you would find him playing with his beloved grandchildren.

Dario is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Cheryl, son Mike (Jade) Degan, daughter Kayla (Justin) Roussy, his pride and joy of 7 grandchildren Emma Degan, Eric Buckley, Nate, Sawyer and Ryder Degan, and Brooke and Hannah Roussy, sisters Rosie (Wally) Caron, Irene (Len) Harding, brother-in-law Tom Berisoff, sister-in-law Marg (Eleannah) Vermeire, numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Dario was predeceased by his father Carlo Degan, mother Irma Degan, and sister Bruna Berisoff.

Dario never hesitated to give a helping hand or a stern talking to when needed. He will always be remembered for his kindness, smile, strength, courage, and his love and devotion to his family and friends.

At Dario’s request a service will not be held but a Celebration of life will take place at a later date. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in Dario’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society at 908 Rossland Avenue, Trail, BC, V1R 3N6 or online at www.cancer.ca
