1938 – 2013

David passed away suddenly of natural causes at home on July 26th, at the age of 75. He is lovingly remembered by daughters Dana and Colleen; his sister Sandra Erdman (Alvin) and family Neal, Wayne, and Colin; and his loving companion Lorraine Silbernagel. He is predeceased by his wife Peggy (2006).

David was born in Kelowna and soon moved to the small mining community of Allenby close to Princeton, BC. He bussed to Princeton for school where he met Peggy, his wife of 48 years. Soon after high school graduation, David and Peggy were married and they began their life together in Vancouver. He worked for a brief time at BC Tel before taking his X-Ray Technician training and moving to Trail, BC in 1963. Dana and Colleen were born in Trail before 1969 when the family moved to Kamloops where David became manager of the X-Ray department at Royal Inland Hospital. David retired in 1996 and he and Peggy were off and running on their many retirement plans – golfing, RVing, winters in Arizona After Peggy’s death in 2006, David maintained his bright, energetic outlook that we so loved, and he was blessed to have met his companion Lorraine with whom he continued his retirement adventures. His daughters have always been a source of pride and joy – Dana lives in Kamloops and Colleen in Vancouver. David was delighted at having Dana close by and loved Colleen’s visits where they would spend weeks together.

David was a wonderful father, a devoted and loving spouse during Peggy’s long-term illness, and a cherished friend to those who knew him well. He loved to have a good time, could talk your ear off, and was not afraid to call bullshit when he saw it.

David will be greatly missed by his many friends and groups to which he belonged, including: Jaycees, St. Andrews Lutheran Church Congregation, Juniper Sams, the Casa Grande gang, Blazer Boosters, Kamloops Golf and Country Club members, Friendship Fishing Stag and RIH retirees.

Father. Husband. Brother. Friend. We loved him so dearly.

David’s Memorial will be on August 9th at 10:00 am at the TRU Grand Hall, 900 McGill Road, Campus Activity Centre, Kamloops, BC.

Donations in David’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation.
