Dad ( Guido ) went to school until he was 12 years old and then at an early age he went to work and found odd jobs to work so he could help out at home. In 1949 he went into the army. In 1950 dad was sponsored to come to Canada by his Zio Antonio Matteucci. Dad had various jobs when he came to work in Trail. He worked out at the Dam, helped to build J. In 1959 Dad met the love of his life, Nadia Pezzi. For Guido it was love at first sight. They dated for 3 months before getting married July 4, 1959 at St. Anthony’s Church. Nadia & Guido were married for 56 years. Together they had 5 children, Loriana, Marina, Giuseppe (Joe), Luigi and Riccardo, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Dad was a kind, gentle, proud, social and generous man. He was very outgoing and loved meeting new people and striking up a conversation with them. Dad loved the Colombo Lodge, he was a member for 65+ years. He served on the executive for many years and also played a big part for 17 years helping mom out in the kitchen with the cooking; he loved to socialize. Guido also loved to spend time at the lake with his many family and friends. He enjoyed taking the grandkids out for the weekend. Family meant everything to dad. He could also be seen at many Smoke Eaters games, Ferraros, Shoppers and out at the mall. Dad also loved to do the BBQ’s at the Colombo Lodge picnic grounds and Birchbank for Canada Day. He made awesome steaks and potatoes.
