LA FOND, Margaret (Duncan), known as Bobbi, of Rossland, BC passed away peacefully on Dec 18, 2013. Bobbie was born in Neville, SK on January 31, 1929, the 8th of 10 children to Edward and Selina Duncan. She met Sherwood (Slim), her husband of 50 years in 1947 and moved to the Trail area shortly after. They moved to Rossland in 1951 and helped populate the city and keep the schools open with their 15 children and grandchildren.

Bobbi dedicated her life to her family and to her community. Her endless hours of volunteering have been recognized with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, Scouts Canada Medal of Merit for 40 years service, Citizen of the Year for Rossland in 1991 and more. Some of her volunteer organizations are Rossland United Church Women’s Organization, Scouts Canada, Cub Mothers, Girl Guides of Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Rossland Health Care Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, Rossland Fall Fair, Royal Canadian Legion Branch, Rossland Women’s Curling and the Rossland Retirees Curling Clubs to name a few. As part of Bobbi’s legacy she has instilled the same charitable values in her family.

Left to celebrate her life are her children, Daryl, Sheryl (Dave), Dana (MaryAnn), Duane (Diane), Vonna (Dave), Kim (Joan), Kevin (Sheila), Lorilie (Terry), Sheree (Samad), Twyla, Collette (Barry), Trinda (Greg), Crystal (Kevin), Aretta (Byron), Parry (Tanya), her sisters, Merrial Froslie and Shirley Dyck and her brother Wayne (BettyAnne) Duncan, her 42 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Sherwood (Slim), grandchildren Craig, Carl, and William.

A Celebration of Life will be held at United Church in Rossland on Monday, Dec 23, 2013 at 2pm with the interment taking place at 11am at the Mountain View Cemetery. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
