It is with great sadness that we announce that Willard “Wid” Taylor, 70, passed away on Tuesday, July 12 in Trail, British Columbia. He was born July 2, 1946 to Ernie (Lance) and Rhoda (Collett) Taylor in Nakusp, BC., and spent his childhood around the Arrow Lakes and Sheep Creek, near Salmo. Willard worked as a surveyor at the Remac and HB mines near Salmo, before spending the rest of his career at Teck/Cominco in Trail in a variety of positions. He also spent a term as a counselor for the Village of Salmo. Survivors include his 2 children, Rod Taylor of Salmo, and Marlene Etty of Calgary; 4 grandchildren, Cody, Ryan, Kyle and Kailyn; 1 brother Allan Taylor of Langenburg, Saskatchewan as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; and his wife Leslie Taylor. At Wid’s request, a service will not be held. The family would ask that friends and family raise a glass (perhaps of his favorite whiskey), and take a moment to remember all of the good times, the great laughs and the one-liners that Wid always came up with. We will miss you so much Dad! As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in his name to the Trail SPCA at 7700 3B Hwy, Trail, BC V1R 4X2 where he was so happy to have found his constant companions Murphy and then Mandu.
