The ice was set, the stakes were high, and the skaters from the Beaver Valley Skating Club (BVSC) rose to the occasion at the Regional Ice Skating Competition hosted by the Creston Skating Club, Feb. 16 to 19.

Nine participants from BVSC showcased their talents and left a lasting impression with their outstanding performances.

Leading the pack was Adleigh Rodgers, who exhibited sheer brilliance on the ice, clinching a silver medal for her exceptional displays in the Star 5 Artistic and Star 4, 13-and-over event. Rodgers further stamped her authority by securing bronze for her mesmerizing Star 10/Gold solo dance event.

Not stopping there, Rodgers along with Poppy Terpstra and Amaya Needham, wowed the judges and secured a commendable 4th-place finish for their mesmerizing group showcase.

Poppy Terpstra herself left an indelible mark, earning honours for her captivating solo dance and adding to her accolades a silver in the Star 3 solo event.

Amaya Needham showcased her prowess by claiming a silver in her Star 3 solo performance and impressed with a 7th place finish in the challenging Star 8/9 solo dance event. Needham’s consistency shone through as she secured 10th place overall in the competitive Star 5 Artistic event.

Matilda Thompson and Ella Gandy displayed sheer determination and skill, earning a well-deserved bronze for their performances in the Star 2 events. Maya Kinnear dazzled the audience with her grace, clinching a silver for her impeccable Star 2 Elements and adding a bronze in her Star 2 solo event.

Clarissa van Staden rounded off the stellar performances with a golden touch, claiming gold in her Star 2 events.

The seven skaters were later joined by Kinsley LaFreniere and Taylor Mason in the Kootenay Team Showcase, representing the club with an outstanding performance.
