The Greater Trail Midget Tier 3 Smoke Eaters lost 3-2 in overtime to the Kootenay Rapids in the GTMHA tournament final at the Cominco Arena on Sunday.

Trail won a thrilling 4-3 shootout semi-final match over Spokane Sunday morning to advance to the final against the Rapids, who went undefeated in pool play.

Trail jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second period, but the Kootenay Tier 2 Rapids tied it in the third and would score one minute into the overtime period for the victory.
