As a three-year term is nearing an end, the Nelson and District Credit Union is looking for a few keen individuals to sit on its board of directors.

All representatives must have shares with the credit union and live in the area they wish to represent.

At this time, the credit union is seeking volunteers from Rossland, Nelson and an at-large member, someone who lives in one of the communities with a Nelson and District Credit Union, which includes Nelson, Rossland and the East Shore.

“We are looking for people who want to give back to our community and engage our local economy in the co-operative spirit,” said credit union CEO Doug Stoddart in a news release. “Advocacy, debating, inquiry and collective decision-making skills are all favourable qualities.”

After the nomination process is complete, credit union members will have an opportunity to elect the three people to the board of directors.

The community-based financial cooperative was established in 1950 and has grown to over $160 million in assets and serves over 12,000 members throughout the West Kootenay.

Nominations are due by Jan. 28.
