Community rallies for Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital

The community showed up in a big way for Light-Up the Hospitals! Pledge Day 2023.

The Dec. 1 event held at Waneta Plaza brought in an outstanding $205,450.

Funds raised are in support of the Orthopedic Enhancement Project, a $750,000 campaign by the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) Health Foundation, and other foundation initiatives like the Greatest Needs Fund and NICU campaign.

About the Orthopedic Enhancement Project

This project will purchase state of the art medical equipment for the KBRH operating rooms, to be used by orthopedic surgeons.

Furthermore, the project will support two new orthopedic surgeons, recruited to work at KBRH, as well as the hospital’s existing team of four orthopedic surgeons.

Equipment purchased will allow the surgical team to continue providing hip and knee replacement; hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, hand and wrist repair; and trauma surgeries. Additionally, the project will support a new level of service for patients including total ankle replacements and hip and knee replacements with a one-day discharge.
