Looking for some fun stuff to do as a family this coming long weekend? There are plenty of great events planned around the West Kootenays on Family Day, many of them free.

TRAIL

Saturday, Feb. 16

Visit the Trail Riverfront Centre from 11:30 to 2:30 for tons of fun! Fill your own Family Time Capsule with plenty of activities. There are lots of food and great prizes to be won.

Teck Family Series presents DuffleBag Theatre in Romeo & Juliet

Come join DuffleBag Theatre for a fun BC Family Day out, at the opening show of the Teck Family Series, presented by Trail and District Arts Council. Be a part of the romance, comedy and sword fights – Romeo & Juliet has it all. Tickets are $15 for single admission.

Touchstones Museum

Monday, Feb. 18, 12 to 2 p.m.

Celebrate Family Day with a unique experience. Have a free family portrait taken on black and white film in our historic turret. Photographer Thomas Nowaczynski of LighterCyde Film Lab will be on hand to share his talents. A small print will be yours once film is developed. SLOCAN VALLEY

Winter Day on the Trail will take place on the Slocan Valley Rail Trail on Family Day, at the Winlaw station.

Slocan Valley Recreation is hosting a fun-filled afternoon, with skis and snowshoes available (with lessons, if needed). There’s also the popular ski waxing demo. For $15 they can even wax your skis. The Winlaw trailhead can be reached from Highway 6.

SALMO SKI HILL

Free ski day, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
