• Everyone is welcome to attend Columbia View Lodge’s Art Exhibit, featuring the work of residents and Bridges clients under the direction of volunteer Judy Sorensen. The exhibit runs Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. admission is free with refreshments provided. All works of art will be available for sale. Cost for art is by donation with all proceeds going to the Residents’ Council, Art and Recreation Program.

Music

• RougeMusic launches its second season of concerts at the Rouge Gallery with Winds of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra as the opening concert Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $15 available at the Rouge Gallery in advance or at the door. Call 362-9609 for more info.

• The Joe Hill Coffee House kicks off its fourth year with another night of performance, variety and good times.  The line up for Sunday’s show at the Miner’s Hall in Rossland include Max Hawk, Jacob Erickson, Dan Charon Kara Deane, Russell Haskins, Stew Ford and Newt Szabo, Jane Gaudet and Pickled Thistle. Volunteers can help set up at 1 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. $3 admission, refreshments available.

Theatre

• The Royal Theatre in Trail presents live performances of the best of British theatre as part of its National Theatre Live series. Tonight playing at the Royal is “One Man, Two Guvnors” at 7 p.m. $24.00 Adult, $12.00 Child (12 and under), tickets available at door only.

Other

• Cops for Kids benefit show presents a Tribute to the Stars. Featuring world-class tribute performers Martin Edwards as Kenny Rogers, Pam Ferens as Patsy Cline and Jason Scott as Neil Diamond, tonight at the Charles Bailey Theatre. Tickets $25.

• Colombo Piazza Day invites the public to join the Sister of Colombo for Italian food, magic shows, music, kids’ activities and more on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Colombo Piazza, 584 Rossland Ave.

• Parkinson Society of B.C. is holding their Walk for the Cure on Saturday at Gyro Park. Registration starts at 10 a.m. The society encourages individuals, businesses, clubs and organizations to get involved. Call 367-9189 to register and to obtain pledge forms.

• The 31st annual Trail Terry Fox Run goes at Gyro Park, Sunday. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon. Annual tug-of-war featuring teams from Regional Fire Services and 44 Engineers Squadron at 9:30 a.m.  Mass start at 10:00 am.  A Kiwanis pancake breakfast is available for a $4 donation.

• The Trail Kinsman Club is looking for members to help with community projects. The club has been a driving force in establishing parks and recreation facilities in the Trail area for years. • After a great summer of relaxation, its time to get sweating again. The Sweat Factory re-opens its doors this week for the fall schedule. Check out our website for details at http://sweatfactory.ca. To register for a class, please email the day you wish to attend or drop in. The Factory has moved to 419 Rossland Ave. in the Gulch

• United Way hosts Harvest Country Fair at Gyro Park Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event welcomes autumn with a farmer’s market, baking and preserves contests, kids games, live music and a toonie lunch sponsored by Teck and the United Steelworkers Local 480 and 9705

• Join the Skills Centre on Sept. 25th for the annual River’s Day Clean Up.  Come by yourself or bring a team to help keep the banks of the Columbia River sparkling.  You can pre-register at the Skills Centre by calling 368-6360 or sign up on Sept. 25th at 11 a.m. outside of Clive’s Coffee Bar. Celebrate at Gyro Park at 1:30 pm for a free pizza lunch, prize draws and live entertainment. Be part of doing something wonderful for our river, our community, and planet earth

• The Irish Rovers will be performing at the Charles Bailey Theatre, Sept. 28 at 7:30, playing their unique brand of Irish folk music, old and new favourites. Tickets available at the theatre box office $45.
