Ready for a night of laughs, Italian-style?

The Trail and District Arts Council will present a celebration of family, food, and music in a hilariously heartwarming musical called “Made in Italy,” March 30 in The Bailey Theatre.

The show centres around Francesco Mantini, a second-generation Italian teen struggling to find his place in Jasper, Alberta.

Tired of living up to his traditional Italian-immigrant father’s expectations and the constant bullying from his Canadian peers, he takes inspiration from icons Rocky Balboa and John Travolta, and reinvents himself as Frank Martin: crooner and ladies’ man.

Weaving the electrifying music of the 1970s with classic Italian tunes, this five-time Jessie Award–nominated show is equal parts comedy, music, and heart as father and son find themselves despite their differences.

This one-man show is described as delightful, buoyant, and as bubbly as a glass of prosecco.

Made in Italy is written by Farren Timoteo.

It is An Arts Club Theatre Production based on The Western Canada Theatre production.

The arts council advises the show covers mature themes and has strong language.

Arts Club is one of the largest not-for-profit theatre companies in the country. Comprising three venues across Vancouver, the Arts Club welcomes more than a quarter million guests annually, and tours provincially and nationally.

Above all, the Arts Club is dedicated to the advancement of local artists telling stories from near and far.

The Arts Club was founded in 1964 and is currently led by Artistic Director Ashlie Corcoran and Executive Director Peter Cathie White.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show are available online at tickets.trail-arts.com, by phone at 250.368.9669, and in person at the Bailey box office in downtown Trail.

Made in Italy is made possible thanks to the support of sponsors The Best Western Plus Columbia River Hotel, Century 21 Kootenay Homes (2018) Ltd., Pharmasave Trail, Teck Trail Operations, Bounce FM, and Tourism South Kootenay as well as the BC Arts Council, BC Touring Council, and the Government of Canada.
