St. Michael's School ready to celebrate

On Nov. 24, St Michael’s School is hosting its second annual gala event, The Giving Tree Gala.

Once again it is time to dust off the dress clothes, shine up the dancing shoes and get ready to attend an elegant dinner and dance event.

On Nov. 24, St Michael’s School is hosting its second annual gala event.

“This year we have named the fundraiser the Giving Tree Gala, as it is just before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and we wanted to be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas,” said Tamara Orr, teacher at St Michael’s School.

There are 220 tickets available for purchase at St Michael’s School or at Our Lady of Perpetual Health in East Trail.

Tickets are $50 each and will be sold until Nov 19. Tables can be reserved online at mcmak@shaw.ca.

Those attending the party are asked to bring an unwrapped gift to put under the Giving Tree.

The school is working with the local RCMP to distribute the gifts to local families in need.

“It’s a chance for us to give back to the community during the season of Christmas,” said Orr.

“Toys, books, clothing items are all good ideas for under the Giving Tree.”

Another feature at the gala will be the many donated items at the silent auction table.

“The support from local business has been amazing and we are extremely grateful for all the items that are coming in everyday,” said Orr.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the purchase of Smart boards for the classroom and an iPad lab.

This year, the committee is excited to unveil the new school logo.

“The new school logo has been kept a secret and won’t be revealed until the night of the gala,” said Orr.

The fundraiser will be held in the school gym and catered by The Riverbelle.

Those interested in supporting St Michael’s School in donations to the silent auction, they can call the school at 368-6151.
