To the City of Trail:

Sometimes we take things for granted, the water taps turn on, showers get us ready for the day, the toilets flush, but that is, until they stop.

This is a heartfelt thank you to the City of Trail maintenance crew who responded to the watermain break in Sunningdale on Wednesday, June 14.

There was such teamwork required in getting the waterline back up and running.

As citizens of Trail, we often don’t realize what goes into the repair of the infrastructure in our community.

Do we know where the shut off valves are?

Do we think about the mapping of the underground lines, pipes, feeder valves?

Do we understand anything about the time and energy, thoughtfulness of the plan of repair, the machinery required to make it happen?

Do we think about the workers that are displaced from their evening meals and family time or maybe that coaching practice that they couldn’t attend?

I was inconvenienced because the tap wouldn’t turn on to brush my teeth before bed, but my gratitude went out to those who worked into the middle of night so that I could wake up to fill my kettle in the morning and starting my morning routine.

Thank you to the City of Trail for your immediate remediation of the broken line, the workers who worked tirelessly into the night to repair the infrastructure, and to those who helped to make my ability to turn on the taps almost seamless.

I didn’t have water for a few hours but boy was I happy when that toilet flushed in the morning.

Sometimes we take things for granted.

Sincerely,

Marilyn and Ken Lunde – Sunningdale residents
