A 78-year-old Montrose woman was killed in a car crash near Waneta Plaza on Monday.
Igino Macasso, 88, was driving a 1992 Toyota sedan with his wife, Maria, in the passenger seat when the accident occurred around 3 p.m.
Igino Macasso attempted to cross Highway 3B from Waneta Plaza and was struck in the eastbound lane by a 1994 GMC truck driven by Travis Mcconnachie of Montrose.
Maria Macasso was pronounced dead at the scene while her husband suffered head and chest injuries and is being held at the hospital for observation.
The West Kootenay Traffic Services and the BC Coroners Service are investigating this matter and are asking anyone who may have witnessed this accident to call 250-354-5183.
