Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a Trail man charged with several criminal offences.

On Nov. 24, Jarrid Constantin was charged with flight while pursued by a peace officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and mischief, according to a Dec. 12 media release.

As a result, RCMP issued a warrant for his arrest.

“Trail and Greater District RCMP note that he is a high priority to arrest and would like assistance from the public in locating him,” Sgt. Mike Wicentowich said in the release.

Charges stem from an Oct. 22 incident, when police allegedly identified the wanted 44-year-old man driving a vehicle in downtown Trail at 1:20 a.m.

Constantin already had a warrant for his arrest on charges of transporting a prohibited firearm, possession of firearm while unauthorized, occupying a vehicle with a prohibited firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm, and breach of a release order.

Constantin allegedly fled the police when an officer tried to detain him roadside. Later, the police officer discovered that the man had crashed his vehicle into a Shaver’s Bench retaining wall, near the intersection of McBride Street and Highway 3B.

Police say that the man’s vehicle was heavily damaged and Constantin allegedly drove away from the crash scene at a low speed.

The officer followed the man from a safe distance and also at low speed, but stopped following the vehicle when Constantin suddenly began driving down the wrong side of the road.

Police say Constantin is known to frequent downtown Trail and may be in disguise.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Trail detachment at 250.364.2566 to speak to an investigator.
