Nelson RCMP are asking for the public assistance in locating a 16-year-old Slocan youth.

On Tuesday, at approximately 10 p.m., Zachary Knodel ran away from home.

Knodel was last seen  at 12 Tribes in South Slocan. He had been staying in the care of a friend there and was due to travel to Winnipeg in May to re-unite with his mother.

It is unknown at this time if Knodel was heading east to Winnipeg or not as he has family members in Chilliwack, Dawson Creek, and Kelowna.

He may also be using the last names of Dloughy or Sheets.

Knodel is described as age 16,  five-foot-six to five-foot-seven, 140 pounds, hair- black buzz cut,  eyes-brown wearing-jeans, hoody, and possibly a backpack.

The Nelson RCMP are asking if anyone has seen or been in contact with Knodel to call Nelson RCMP.  In particular if any motorists in the South Slocan area saw a young boy hitchhiking on Tuesday evening around 10 p.m. near the South Slocan junction to also call the RCMP.
