SOBC-Trail athletes take the plunge

Team Columbia River Courage took a cool dip in the river to raise funds for Trail Special Olympics

Team Columbia Courage made a big splash in the Columbia River at the Special Olympics BC Polar Plunge at Gyro Park in Trail on Saturday.

Around 30 supporters attended the event that saw eight athletes from SOBC-Trail take the annual plunge to raise funds for the upcoming season.

One mother told the Trail Times, “My boy is only seven and loves bowling. He is unable to participate in a regular league so support for organizations like this is paramount to my family and so many more.”

Athletes and supporters gathered after the Plunge to enjoy cookies and hot chocolate courtesy of Tim Hortons.

Special Olympics BC provides high-quality year-round sport programs and competitions that help people with intellectual disabilities celebrate personal achievement and gain confidence, skills, and friendships.
