Trail, Castlegar police join forces to bust grow-ops

The Trail and Castlegar crime reduction units combined forces and cracked down on two marijuana grow operations this week, seizing a total of $250,000 worth of pot.

Police discovered a marijuana grow operation in West Trail Wednesday in a home on Lookout Street. A couple was arrested after the RCMP found about 84 marijuana plants and a quantity of bud in the basement.

This came after RCMP executed a search warrant the day before in Glade. Two men were arrested at the scene when police found 942 plants and bud.

Charges of production and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking have been recommended in both cases.

The amount of marijuana seized in both incidents could have produced 21,000 marijuana cigarettes, according to Cpl. Darryl Orr.
