Breanne Massey is the latest addition to the Trail Daily Times' news department.

The Trail Daily Times would like to introduce the newest reporter to its staff.

Breanne Massey joined the Trail Daily Times less than one year after graduating from the journalism program at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops.

Massey had a full time job with benefits, but decided that a career with a daily newspaper would be more interesting.

She will be filling in for reporter Val Rossi who is beginning maternity leave.

Before moving to the Kootenays, Massey worked at WestJet, the Winnipeg Free Press, the Ladysmith Chemainus Chronicle and the Alberni Valley News.

She also contributes editorial content to a number of other publications, including Mining and Exploration magazine and Kootenay Business magazine.

“Breanne’s interest in the mining sector, varied newspaper and world experience, enthusiasm and pleasant demeanour, make her a perfect fit for our newsroom,” said Guy Bertrand, the Trail Times managing editor.

Massey also holds a diploma in visual arts.

She spent last summer visiting Romani (gypsy) slums in Eastern Slovakia, farming in the Ukraine and teaching English in South Korea.  She takes more photographs in a day than the average tourist and spends a disgusting amount of time trolling the Internet.

She is always eager to hear about community events, natural resources, oddities or arts and entertainment.  Contact Massey at newsroom@trailtimes.ca you have a news tip.
