A 55-year-old Trail man was shot in the abdomen during a home invasion on Sunday, Oct. 22.

Greater Trail RCMP reported that at approximately 10:30 p.m. they received a call and responded to a break-in at a residence on the 400 block of Rossland Avenue in Trail.

According to the RCMP’s investigation, three suspects had broken through the front door, assaulted the man, and then shot him in the stomach before leaving the scene.

When police arrived they discovered that the man had sustained a non-life-threatening gun shot wound to his abdomen.

“Officers applied first aid to the victim’s gunshot wound until BC EHS and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue arrived on scene,” said RCMP Cpl. James Grandy in a release.

The man was transported to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital and is expected to survive.

Trail RCMP is asking the public for any assistance they can provide in solving the crime or identifying the suspects.

Call the Trail detachment to speak to an investigator at 250-364-2566.
