Community in Bloom chair asks city

for $125,000 to support 2011 program

Trail Community in Bloom is taking another shot at the beautifying competition’s international challenge, city council decided Monday night.

The Silver City moved to the national category last year after competing in the international portion for three years.

“We thought that our score last year was really high. We figure if we can get a percentage or two more this year, we’ll be right at the top,” said Trail CiB chair Dan Rodlie.

Trail has received the maximum score of five blooms since 1994, he noted.

The city decided Monday to support Rodlie’s suggestion but will need some time to consider his budget request.

Rodlie is looking for $125,000 for this year’s program, which is a little more than last year’s $108,000.

This year’s main project is the development of a “white garden” in Jubilee Park, a re-creation of the beautiful Sissinghurst Castle Garden in England.
