The West Kootenay Cancer Survivor Tea is being held in the hall of Trail United Church on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
“It should be a great start to the holiday season,” says Heather Kennedy, a breast cancer survivor helping to organize the event.
“It is a wonderful time to share and celebrate with others in their cancer journey.”
The gathering began as the Greater Trail Cancer Survivor Tea; however, the decision was made last year to include cancer survivors from across the West Kootenay.
Kennedy extends gratitude to local businesses for their ongoing support in making the day a success.
“We try to make sure all the survivors have a chance for a door prize.”
A welcome addition on Saturday will be live music and a performance by the Mystic Dream Dancers.
There will also be a display and information table about lymphedema, as cancer survivors run a risk of developing this chronic condition.
There is no charge for cancer survivors or their caregivers to attend.
Donations will be accepted with proceeds going to the Greater Trail Hospice Society.
Jenny Murray, founder of the Trail tea, will be remembered with a displayed photo.
Murray passed away Sept. 20, 2022; yet her spirit lives on in the West Kootenay Cancer Survivor Tea.
