In loving memory ~
The family of Ada Dattolo sorrowfully regrets to announce her sudden passing just a week short of her 88th birthday. Ada Fiore was born in Santo Stefano del Sole, Italy on November 11, 1934 and passed away after a brief illness at the Trail Regional Hospital on November 05, 2022. She was the second child of four and at a young age of nineteen, married her husband Carmine Dattolo. Soon after her marriage and birth of their first son, her husband immigrated to Canada in 1954 settling in Trail where other family lived. After three long years, in 1957, she was finally able to join her husband. Together they raised three boys, built a family home, working and contributing to the Trail community till the present day.
Ada is survived by her loving husband of nearly 70 years, Carmine, her three sons; Fred (Cathy), Carlo and Gino; granddaughters Teresa (Rob), Stephanie (Jason); great-grandsons Silas and Theo; sister Luisa and her children Maria Cristina and Lucia; brother-in-law Frank Dattolo (Ersilia); nieces and nephews, Gianna, Lina, Marina, Fred, Irene, Sandy and their families, and many other relatives in Italy, the US, and Argentina. She also leaves to mourn her passing many friends and acquaintances, both locally and abroad.
Ada was a great wife, mother and Nonna. Her family and their well being was paramount, always putting their needs ahead of hers. She never complained or had an unkind word to say about others, a great role model. Her pasta sauce is world famous, never to be duplicated, and enjoyed by many as her door was always open. She ardently supported the Italian community by being a member of the "Italo Canadese Society", the "Sisters of Colombo" and the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Trail.
We would like to thank the ICU staff, the 2nd floor surgical staff and all the other support staff for her excellent care while she was in the hospital. Also thanks to Dr. Fisher and staff of the Riverside Family Medicine Clinic and the many relatives and friends who have supported us at this difficult time.
As an expression of sympathy in Ada's memory, donations may be made to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfounation.ca or a charity of your choice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 10:30 am at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Wayne Pfliger, Celebrant.
