Margoreeth, Alexa jean — December 27, 1929 to November 2, 2011.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alexa Margoreeth of Trail, BC. She passed away at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital on Wednesday, November 2 at the age of 81.

She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her five children, Laurie, (Farrell) McLellan, Elizabeth Knight, Wilma (Norman) Facey, Robb (Anna) Margoreeth, and Scott (Jeanine) Margoreeth, her brother Grant Smith, her 13 grandchildren and her 11 great grandchildren.

Mom was predeceased by Bill, her husband of 52 years in 2000, grandson Dylan in 2003, her mother and father Lillie and Allan Smith, brother Glenn and sisters Yvonne and Loris.

Alexa was born in Lucky Lake, Sask. and grew up in Moose Jaw, Sask. It was in Moose Jaw she met Bill and they married in June 1948. Alexa resided in Trail for 62 years, having moved to Trail in 1949 when Bill started with the Trail Smoke Eaters.

When she passed away Alexa was happily living in the Waneta Road home she and Bill built in 1964.

Alexa loved to work in her garden, to watch hockey and especially cheer for her Vancouver Canucks. She was a BC champion snowmobile racer in younger years and flew around her grandson’s field on a snowmobile last winter. She loved to bake and give out her famous cinnamon buns and to knit for hours. She was always with a smile and a hug and had a great sense of humour. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always putting her family’s needs before her own. She was a trusted friend to many, reaching out and helping others whenever she could with her optimistic outlook on life. She greatly valued time with family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Columbia Ave, Trail on Sunday, November 20 at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be sent to the BC Handicap Society, Canuck Place, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Canada.

Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services is entrusted with the arrangements.
