Alice Kropinak passed away peacefully with her five children around her at her home in Swan Valley Lodge.
Alice was born on July 8th, 1922 in Radziechowy, Poland to parents Regina and Jacob Simla. She arrived in Canada at one year of age along with her parents and brother. The family settled in Coleman, AB where Alice grew up, met and married Matt Kropinak. They moved to Creston in 1949 to a fruit farm. In 1969 the family moved to Trail, BC where Alice worked as a cook in the Terra Nova and the Union Hotel until she retired. She returned to Creston for the last four years of her life.
Alice enjoyed her family and was always happy to welcome friends and family with chocolate chip cookies, cabbage rolls, and a little bit of a "witness" (the old one-two) because throughout her life she was a devoted Jehovah's Witness.
She was known for her wit and great sense of humour, she loved to play cards and was always ready for a good game of Pinochle.
Alice was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Matthew Kropinak. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Carolyn, Sandra, Dan, Frances, and Jeff, their spouses, eighteen grandchildren, and twenty-nine great grandchildren.
A family gathering will be held on Saturday September 18, 2010 in Trail, BC
