Burc Haver (nee Norman Samuel Jones) of Trail, B.C. passed away July 12, 2018 at the age of 91 at Rosewood Village.
Burc, born January 27, 1927 was the 6th of 10 children born to Margaret and Marquis Jones in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
He was preceded by his wife Sheola (who passed away on April 2013) and his siblings, Verna, Lillian, Harold, Pearl, Herbert, Glen and Ben.
Burc is survived by his stepsons, John (Annette) Greag (Lori) Harvie (Tracy) Hurd. Grandsons John, Daryle, Cody, granddaughters Ashley, Jaime & Kelssay. His sister Mabel, brother Edward, nieces, nephews and their families.
Burc spent 31 years in the Royal Canadian Engineers/Military Engineers and as a member of the Canadian United Nations, NATO Force in Korea. After retiring from the military he worked for 10 years with West Kootenay Power in Kelowna. Burc and Sheola had known each other for many years and were both widowed when they married and lived in Kelowna for many years before moving to Trail to be near family. When Sheola passed away in 2013, Burc moved to Rosewood Village. Burc was a very active senior who loved to walk and often during winter days do laps around the mall or Walmart. He did this faithfully until his health failed him. Laurie Boyes who owns Serendipity provided very needed assistance to Burc and Sheola when she was ill. After her passing Laurie continued to help Burc in making his life easier and in doing so she became not just a caretaker but a good friend and companion. He always enjoyed her visits, their many outings and their hundreds of games of cribbage.
A special thank-you to the staff at Rosewood for the sincere care and support they gave to Burc over the years and to Dr. Aitken for the care provided to Burc.
A small service will be held at a later date to say goodbye to this kind and gentle soul. We all miss your big smile Burc and your famous gin and tonics!
