Caroline Norma Ridge

February 25, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Caroline on February 25, 2011 at Columbia View Lodge in Trail. She was born in Fort George, BC in 1917 to the pioneering Wesley family. Caroline spent her childhood in Nelson and most of her married life in Rossland, retiring to the Ridge family farm in South Slocan.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Elmore, her parents, brothers Michael and Norman and sister Edith. Caroline is survived by daughters Norma Ellis (Don) and Sharon Speirs (Gordon), grandchildren Jennifer, Jon, Ken, and Kevin and great grandchildren Kyle, Dylan, Lara, Kenneth, Kaden, Bailey, Jack, Katelyn and Dean. She is also survived by her dear sister Doris in Alaska.

Caroline was a kind and gentle lady who put her family above all else and in her last years enjoyed her great grandchildren immensely. She was a model to us all, of how to age gracefully. Caroline will be remembered for her beautiful handiwork.

A service of remembrance will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church in Trail on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., with Canon Neil Elliot officiating. Al Grywacheski of Personal Alternative Funeral Services “Carberry’s Chapel” is entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Caroline’s memory to Columbia View Lodge Recreation, c/o KBRH Foundation, 1200 Hospital Bench Road, Trail, BC V1R 4M1.
