In Loving Memory (1932-2024) ~

On Sunday February 4, 2024, Charles (Chuck) LeComte passed away peacefully at age 91. Dad was spending his typical Sunday afternoon relaxing at home with his wife Sharon at his side. His departure was swift and quiet, without fanfare or drama.

Chuck was born in 1932 in Owlseye, Alberta and grew up in the Ashmont / St Paul farming community. He met his first wife, Nila Wall, while she was visiting her family in the area. They married and settled in Calgary, then moved to Kimberley BC and eventually to Montrose and Fruitvale where Chuck worked for more than 40 years in the Engineering department of Cominco / Teck.

After Nila passed in 1997, Chuck met and married his second wife Sharon McWhirter in 1998. He and Sharon resided in Fruitvale in their retirement. Chuck could often be found at the curling rink or golf course on any given day.

Dad was known for his volunteerism, including coaching sports in the 1970s and 30+ years of canvassing for United Way/ Community Chest. He was a founding member of the Trail Trap Shooting Club and Champion Lakes Golf Club and remained an active golfer even at 91 years of age.

Chuck is survived by four children and three stepchildren: Laurie Edmunds and grandsons Dawson & Joel; Meryle Corbett (Gary Eisenhut) and grandchildren Kevin & Audrey; Denise (Ken) Ola and grandchildren Evan, Austin (Lana), Alayna (Charles) & Ethan; Colin (Lisa Van-Dyke) LeComte and granddaughter Carmen; Michael (Heather) McWhirter and granddaughters Ashley (Bruce) & Kathleen (Simon), great-granddaughters Sophie & Olivia; Terry (Rachel) McWhirter and grandchildren Logan & Ellery; and Teresa (Mark) Boland.

Chuck also leaves behind a brother, Val LeComte, and sister, Alda Kugler.

He was predeceased by his sisters Teresa Owen, Bette Ellis and Noella Tough.

Dad was known to many in the Trail community, and he will be missed by all.
