God needed a good electrician, and Donato “Donuts” Picone has answered the call!
Our family is sad to announce the passing of Donuts on November 20th in Victoria.
A devoted family man, Donuts is survived by his wife of nearly 65-years, Teresa, children Bev (Mike), Maureen, and Gary (Terri), as well as many grand- and great-grandchildren.
“You were one of the most loving men I knew, faced enough adversity to make most bitter, yet embraced life with a tenacity that 91 years hardly contained. This is for you Donato Picone, Papa. (1920-2011) Salut! “ –Rico (grandson)
Donuts was an active congregate of his church, a long-time member of the Columbo Lodge, and an avid curler who was at the rink like it was his second home. Donuts considered all of Trail as “famiglia” as witnessed by the various fix-it projects he did for anyone who called. We are happy he was able to experience the joy and dignity of living in the home he built, still picking and canning peaches just this September, thanks to all the many angels who helped.
The family requests donations to the Trail Regional Hospital in lieu of flowers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Trail for both Donato and Teresa. Interment at Mountainview Cemetery in Rossland will follow the Mass immediately, and a reception will occur back at the Church hall after the burial. Father Matthieu Gombo Yange OfmCap will celebrate the service.
