November 12, 1937 - October 3, 2020
It is with great sadness, the family of Edward (Ed) Kucher announces his passing on October 3, 2020 at the age of 82, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 12, 1937 in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan, and as a boy, he helped on the family farm. At the age of 17, he moved to Trail and worked for (Teck) Cominco as an Assayer for 37 years.
He met and married his sweetheart, Margaret in 1960, and cherished the next 60 years with his wife, as they raised their three children.
Ed was a humble man who lived his life making sure his family's needs were met before his own. As a young family he enjoyed camping and dirt biking with his kids along with numerous enjoyable summer vacations back to the farm to see family and friends.
Ed also enjoyed many sports, including golfing and curling (a number of years in Super League curling). He was an avid hockey and baseball fan with life lasting commitments to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Los Angeles Dodgers.
During the winter months he loved spending time travelling through Nevada and Arizona, his favorite layovers were in Laughlin and Reno where he would try his luck on the slots. During the summer months a lot of time was spent around the backyard pool with family and friends, this was an opportunity for everyone to enjoy Ed's quality homemade wine.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Annie; and brothers, Sam and Bill. He leaves behind to mourn, his wife Margaret, son Larry (Carol Anne); son Mark (Sharon) and daughter Christine (Barry); six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. It was very hard to say good bye but we will forever cherish the wonderful memories.
We would like to send a special thank you to Melissa Mailey, Dr. Scotland and the Oncology Team at Trail Regional, the home care team at Kiro Manor, and Trail Pharmasave for your exceptional patient care.
A private funeral service will be held at a later date. Andreas Schmitz of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation ServicesTM has been entrusted with arrangements.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family's online register at www.myalternatives.ca
