Findlow: Esther Betty of Trail passed away peacefully with family at her side KBRH on August 24, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born in Trail on May 11, 1926 to Garry and Madge Garrison.
Betty took RN training at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria and graduated May 1, 1947 returning to Trail Hospital to nurse. She married Reg Findlow November 19, 1948 and later quit working to raise her family. Betty returned to nursing at TRH Pediatric Dept. from 1968 to 1978.
Betty is survived by her sons Neil (Jan) and their children Dan and Chris; Brian (Annie) and their children Lisa and David; Garry (Rebecca) and their children Bryanne, Kyle and Peter; her daughter Karen Searle; sister Anne (Don) Crawford of Prince George; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Reg in January 2010, her parents Garry and Madge Garrison, sister Pat, brother-in-law Fred Sumner, and son-in-law Ron Searle.
Betty – “5 foot two eyes of blue and oh! What those two eyes could do- especially when she smiled”. Even during her illness her smile was readily given. She was always a loving Mother and caring to all – a true Nurse to the end.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., with Canon Neil Elliot officiating. Interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery. Al Grywacheski of Personal Alternative Funeral Services “Carberry’s Chapel” is entrusted with arrangements.
