A long-time resident of Trail, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.
Born in Birmingham, England in 1920, he emigrated to Trail in 1926 with his parents and brothers Norm and Bob.
After finishing school, he worked in the "Company Store" before serving overseas with the Canadian Army. While stationed in England, he met and married his wife Mary in 1944. After his discharge from the Army in 1945 he returned to the "Company Store" and later went to work for Cominco until his retirement in 1982.
Geoff enjoyed working on the house, gardening, outdoor activities, taking summer camping trips with his family and fishing at Woodbury on Kootenay Lake.
He was predeceased by his son David and his wife Mary, of 71 years. Geoff is survived by his son Paul (Pam), daughter Lesley (Ed), 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Poplar Ridge for their wonderful care of Dad during the last few years.
There will be no service by request and a private family gathering will be held in the spring. Cremation has taken place. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Servicesâ„¢ has been entrusted with arrangements.
