June 24, 1939 - January 19, 2024

In loving memory ~

Glenn Alden Shier passed away January 19, 2024 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail after a brief illness.

He was born June 24, 1939 in Goldfields, Saskatchewan, a small village on the north shore of Lake Athabasca. His family soon relocated to Outpost Island on Great Slave Lake for a brief time before moving to Trail in about 1942.

Glenn graduated from JL Crowe high school in 1957, before heading to UBC to get his Bachelor of Science. From there, he went to Calgary to begin his career as a computer programmer working for seismic exploration companies in the Oil and Gas sector. His skills saw him transfer to Denver, Colorado, then London, England and back to Denver before settling back in Calgary. Glenn retired in 1987 and moved back to his childhood home in Warfiled, where he remained until he passed.

Glenn was inquisitive and loved to read non-fiction, with a wide range of topics. He loved cats and was a long-time supporter of animal rights.

Glenn is survived by his nephew Cliff (Nina), niece Helen and nephew Doug (Donna). He was predeceased by his parents, Tip and Helen and his twin sister, Glenna.
